Analysis of the existing elements in the legislation of Georgia related implementation of the Protocol on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) to the Espoo Convention

Georgia is not yet a Party to the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context (Espoo Convention) and its Protocol on SEA. This report was prepared as part of legislative assistance to help Georgia draft the national legislation on EIA and SEA. It aims at identifying and examining SEA elements existing in the current legislative framework and developing recommendations on application of SEA in Georgia in compliance with the Protocol on SEA. The report also reviews the EU EIA and SEA Directives and their implications for regulatory changes in Georgia.
