A VITAL ECOSYSTEM: Taking climate action & keeping carbon in the ground through peatland restoration in Belarus

Understanding the seriousness of a potential release of carbon stores, the Clima East Pilot Project in Belarus is working with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection to conserve and manage peatlands to showcase innovative ecosystem–based approaches to climate change mitigation for marsh ecosystems.With EU funding and UNDP support, as part of the larger Clima East programme, the project is working in Zvaniec and Sporaǔskaje peatlands in the Drahičyn and Biaroza districts in Belarus - the two largest lowland bogs in Europe.This document summarises the e-publication.
